Ethics and the Concept of Mental Health

In the first part of this article the author argues that the concept of mental health cannot be included among principal notions of ethical theory. He believes that psychiatry and psychotherapy can provide numerous links in the chain of ethical reasoning but nothing to contribute to the scientific foundations of ethics. In the second part of the article the author presents his views on modern psychiatry and psychotherapy showing at the same time that the notion of mental health, as well as a great deal of other concepts in psychiatric and psychotherapeutic theories are value laden.
