MORAL OBLIGATION AND ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
The author describes the phenomenon of postmodern morality. Postmodernism is, according to him, modernism without illusion that the disorder of the human world is a transitory and reversible state. Postmodern morality is morality liberated from: authority (God, Reason), ethical codes, teleology and utility. Isn’t this liberation the end of morality? Bauman claims that it is a chance for morality. Individual, irrational, impulsive, subject-oriented morality is humanised again, and instead of becoming the object of investigation, becomes once more ,,the mystery in me”.
