PATERNALISM IN REHABILITATION
Medicine is the area in which paternalistic behaviours are of a great tradition. For some time the traditional model of relations between a physician, who always ,,knows better” and his patient, is more and more frequently replaced by the partnership model, respecting the patient’s autonomy. However there are authors refusing paternalism in the medicine, but allowing it in rehabilitation.
In this paper main arguments for paternalism in rehabilitation are analysed. The author shows that there is no reason to accept the arguments. All rehabilitation procedures, just as medical ones, should respect the patient’s autonomy.
