Abstract

The paper deals with axiological theories of disease that are not widespread. The author describes four paths that can lead to acceptance of the view that disease is something wrong from moral point of view. These paths, represented by different philosophers, are the following: phenomenological, Kantian, psychiatric, and quasi-historical. After presenting their main features and inspirations, the paper deals with some critical objections the above-mentioned paths face and proposes possible solutions to these objections. In conclusion, the author locates the axiological theories of disease on the general map of bioethics.
