Feminist ethics of care developed by Carol Gilligan and Nel Noddings is in many ways contradictory to the dominant moral paradigms which expose the role of reason and moral universalism. In contrast, care ethics proposes moral particularism – a perspective that can be applied both to the area of human interactions (e.g. how we think about and relate to the other) and to the theoretical as well as practical moral dilemmas. Care ethics emphasizes that sensitivity to the context is conducive to developing greater empathy and a more down-to-earth approach in recognizing moral problems, making decisions, and making moral judgments. Thus, care ethics seems to have an advantage over those stances that are grounded in moral universalism.
