The problem of the structure of moral consciousness is one of the crucial problems of ethics. The author argues against the dominant trend in the Soviet literature, characterized by an abstract and formal approach to the general question of moral consciousness. He proposes to concentrate studies on concrete, historically determined structures of moral consciousness. A comparison between the feudal and bourgeois morality is undertaken to exemplify methodological assumptions of the paper.
