Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to show that contemporary physicalism in its various forms constitutes the ground for cynicism, relativism and nihilism which plague both the present moral life and theory. Physicalism is understood as a view according to which the so called laws of physics are considered to be the sole, objective and true laws of the entire reality. Its basic concepts develop parallel to the development of the concepts of physics and effect human attitudes in morals, politics, economy, etc. In effect, it tends to blur, or even to totally erase the border between what is physically possible and what is allowed from the moral point of view thus jeopardizing the very core of human and specifically interpersonal relations.
