Abstrakt

The paper was delivered in May 2001 during the UNESCO conference „The Genetic Revolution and Humankind” which took place in Paris. The author discusses the relations between the genetic revolution which aims at producing a Nitzschean Ubermensch and the decline of traditional metaphysics. „If we do not want to stop the genetic revolution, which would mean leaving it beyond legal control and subjecting it to arbitrary economic exploitation, we have to treat the human reality without any metaphysical prejudices”. The revolution should be judged from the stand point of democracy rather than metaphysical fundamentalism, „Ubermensch, that is the genetic revolution, will be either democratic or it will not exist at all”.
