Emotions. In search of an anti-essentialist approach

Proponents of essentialism in psychology of emotion believe that emotions have their essence. However, there is no agreement, what it is. For some, the substance of emotions is cognition (perceptions, thoughts, beliefs) or assessment. For other theorists, these are physiological-bodily changes or brain events. In the paper I formulate the most important arguments against these theories and then present the multi-component and multi-functional concept of emotions.
